Eleven children of incarcerated mothers participated in Project Focus Hawaii, a photography internship for at-risk children. The youths were taught photography and life skills throughout the summer, which were on display recently at Alan Wong’s Pineapple Room in Ala Moana Center for the Project Focus Hawaii “Reawakening” Photography Exhibit.

All the participating children have mothers either incarcerated at the Women’s Community Correctional Center or are residents of Ka Hale Hoala Hou No Na Wahine. ProjectFocus Hawaii worked closely with both facilities to enable the children and their mothers to participate fully in this internship.
