The 2005 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards
Every year the local music industry celebrates the best of Hawaiian music with the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. This year’s event was held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Raiatea Helm won four awards for her album Sweet & Lovely, making her the evening’s big winner. Album of the Year went to veteran performer Eddie Kamae & The Sons of Hawaii’s anthology Eddie Kamae and The Sons of Hawaii.
Other multiple award winners included Na Palapalai, who won Hawaiian Album of the Year and Group of the Year, and Kimo Alama Keaulana, who won awards for Hawaiian Language Performance and Haku Mele for Kinoiki Kekaulike.
‘Ale‘a, the Brothers Cazimero and Brittni Paiva also won Hokus. Lifetime achievement awards went to Melveen Leed, Jesse Kalima, Kealoha Kalama, Bill Ali‘iloa Lincoln and Hui Ohana.
