A Touch Of Estrellita
Wednesday - September 01, 2010
Estrellita “Estelle” Green started sewing at age 9. Now, at “forever 29,” she continues to make her own clothes, A Touch of Estrellita, which is described as sexy, glamourous, elegant and one-of-a-kind. She sketches, designs and sews all of her garments, and also is a talented artist in oil painting and an interior designer.
“My goal (with designing clothes) is to express the beauty of being a confident woman, while not being afraid to show what sexy yet classy can look like,” she says.
A graduate of Roosevelt High School and a former Miss Hawaii Filipina, Green started sewing her own clothing to help with family expenses, as her mom was left raising seven children alone after their father passed away while the children were still young. At age 13, she became a Polynesian dancer, worked at Kaiser Village (now known as Hilton Hawaiian Village), and appeared in TV and films including Gidget Goes Hawaiian, Hawaii, Hawaiian Eye and Hawaii Five-0. She also was cast as a hula dancer in Elvis Presley’s movies filmed in Hawaii, and lived in Hollywood and Las Vegas, where she designed costumes for various Las Vegas entertainers and met her husband of 32 years, Honolulu attorney Michael Green. “You will never see it anywhere else,” says Green of what makes her designs so unique.
“It’s Estelle with a touch of Hollywood, Hawaii and Vegas all sewn into a garment!”
