Local girl Maida Montemayor is following her dream of working in fashion and bringing Miami style to Hawaii through her new store Collins & 8th opening July 5 at 560 Pensacola St. (suites 4 and 5, next to Terra by Afloat salon and Nanzan GiroGiro Gallery Restaurant).
“Named after South Beach Miami’s new shopping district, Collins & 8th is inspired by Miami’s style, vibrancy and culture,” explains Montemayor, who also works as an RN at The Queen’s Medical Center. Designer offerings include Mara Hoffman, Joie, Lucca, Hy+Dot, Guevarra Arcega, Jeffrey Campbell, Lovers & Friends, Matiko and I.am by will.i.am., as well as Honolulu-based jewelry lines and a collection of hand-picked vintage wardrobe and jewelry pieces. The store also will host a series of monthly invite-only events, highlighting the arts, culture, music, fashion and beauty. A private VIP grand opening event and fashion show is scheduled for July 1.
