Dick Brewer At Kahala Sportswear
Wednesday - November 12, 2008
Legendary surfboard shaper Dick Brewer will make an appearance at the Kahala Sportswear store at Ala Moana Center Thursday, Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The iconic shaping guru will talk story about his path in life as a master shaper, and customers who purchase the new Kahala ‘shaping room shirt’ will receive a commemorative booklet full of Dick Brewer history, lore and vintage photos.
The ‘shaping room’ shirt features Brewer’s hand-drawn shapes of boards he created for champion riders such as Jock Sutherland, Fred Hemmings and Gerry Lopez.
The event also will feature complimentary fine wines by The Wine Stop, Primo beer and pupu, as well as Hawaiian steel guitar music by Buck Giles.
Established in 1936, Kahala was one of the first companies to commercially produce aloha shirts in Honolulu. In 2006, the brand was purchased from Local Motion by Tori Richard, which relaunched the brand with the opening of its first-ever retail store in the new Nordstrom wing at Ala Moana Center earlier this year.
