Fendi, an 85-year-old Italian company originally known for having some of the most beautiful furs and finest leather in the world, has become one of the most respected fashion houses with its combination of quality and style.

“This spring and summer at Fendi is very significant by the importance of the colors mixed with very light materials such as silk or cottons,” says Patrick Gey, retail manager at Fendi Hawaii. “This is to bring a very comfortable lifestyle with a note of Italian splendor.”

Fendi’s handbag collection will consist of several categories. There will be a very trendy, young, colorful and affordable collection with the “Zip Code” and “Tape” lines with bright yellow or red colors in combination with the FF logo.

“I personally like this line a lot,” says Gey. “Especially in Hawaii where colors take all their beauty in our fabulous weather.”

There will also be the more famous and traditional line of Fendi bags, such as the Selleria line, which for this upcoming season will feature pastel colors like light pink and white.

“The Selleria line is well-known by our customers as it is totally handmade and hand-stitched with the most luxurious Italian leather called Cuoio Romano, a thick but extremely soft leather, which becomes an addiction as you start to wear it,” explains Gey.

And there’s the highly anticipated Spy bag, a larger and very roomy bag with hidden pouches. “We have already a long waiting list for the Spy bags as some Hollywood stars are being seen wearing it,” says Gey. “We are expecting it to be in our stores very soon.”

Featured here is a selection of Fendi’s Spring/Summer 2005 Ready to Wear collection to arrive at the Hawaii stores in early March. Prices were not available yet, but none of these items comes cheap.

The public was given a sneak peek at the collection during a special event at the Ala Moana store in celebration of Chinese New Year. The event was held in partnership with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and catered by Shanghai Bistro.

On Oahu, Fendi is located at Ala Moana Center and the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. For more information, call 973-3311.
