Girls4Sport, specializing in waterwear for active women, has added local kiteboarder Nalani Oda to its group of team riders.

The company offers top performance clothing for female athletes designed by female athletes. All of its rashguard sets have built-in shelf bras, are made of fabrics that are SPF rated at 65, and have matching bottoms that “stay on.”

“I decided to start this company because of my passion for surfing and never finding clothing and gear for women,” says Kim Ruby, president of Girls4Sport. “You can find lots of men’s and junior girl’s, but not much for women. We’re just as active and demanding on our clothing and gear. Plus we wanted to offer something with style too.

“Function is the most important aspect of our products. Our clothing and gear works in the water by staying on and covering up the right places, is extremely comfortable, and makes a fashion statement too.”

Born and raised in Hawaii, Oda, 27, has been kiteboarding for three years. She took first place in her very first contest, and continues to compete in local and international kiteboarding contests.

Other Girls4Sport team riders are Marissa Guthrie (surfing), Karen Beber (kiteboarding), Jade Chang (wakeboarding), Siri Cota (surfing) and Kristina Mekdeci (surfing).

Girls4Sport plans to expand to dryland sports as well, with product development for mountain biking and triathlons.

On Oahu, Girls4Sport can be found at BK Ocean Sports in Waianae, Hawaii Surf and Sail in Haleiwa, Surf Garage and Town and Country Surf Shop. For more information, visit www.girls4sport.com
