Celebrate Chinese New Year (Feb. 7 this year) in style with the latest Chinese-inspired fashions from Shanghai Tang.

The store carries “East meets West”-type of clothing and accessories for men and women, as well as many Chinese New Year gift items, including cuff links, key-chains, umbrellas and Chinese New Year cards.

“A trend we’re seeing with our newest collection is clothing with a more European flair instead of the traditional Chinese silhouettes,” says Melissa Rocha, store manager. “Before everything was designed with a Mandarin collar, but now there’s a mix of styles such as a halter neckline.”

For the Chinese, the new year marks a celebration of change with many Chinese New Year customs representing good fortune. It is also customary to wear new clothes, especially for children, to symbolize a new beginning.

Featured here are some of the latest styles available at Shanghai Tang modeled by the 2008 Narcissus Queen and court.

Shanghai Tang is located at Ala Moana Center on the mall level across from BEBE. The store currently has all its seasonal items marked at 30 percent to 70 percent off. For more information, call 942-9800.
