Hui Makaala, an Okinawan scholarship organization, present its 39th annual scholarship luncheon and fashion show Oct. 26 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, featuring some of the newest designs from Harari and Ryan Roberts, as well as fashions from local retailer Tapestries by Hauoli.

Harari, a 30-year-old Los Angeles-based silk print design house under the creative direction of Okinawan-Japanese-American designer Barbara Keller, features designs inspired from nature and the Far East.

Ryan Roberts, known for its simple and understated designs, includes outerwear, sportswear and a new women’s wear collection.

Tapestries by Hauoli, located in Ala Moana Center and Pearlridge, features clothing and accessories from a variety of designers, including Flax, Citron and Gilma.

This year, through this event, Hui Makaala has presented $20,000 in scholarships to nine Hawaii college-bound students.

The event also includes boutique sales and a silent auction starting at 9 a.m. in the ballroom foyer. Ballroom doors open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch is scheduled for noon followed by the fashion show at 1 p.m.

Tickets to the luncheon fashion show cost $60 and are available at http://www.huimakaala.org or by calling 277-2035.
