Locally owned swimwear line Hula-la! by Hawaiian Hula Girl has launched its new 2007 collection featuring a variety of cutting edge, custom-designed island inspired prints, popular mix-and-match options, and romantic detailing.

Based out of Kailua, Hula-la! owner Erika Ireland grew up in La Jolla, Calif., and Lahaina, Maui where she spent much of her days surfing, swimming and frolicking in the ocean.

She eventually became a lawyer and served as district attorney for several years before she decided to follow her dream of designing “beautiful swimwear that is functional, yet extremely flattering.”

And it’s a good thing she did. Last year, Hula-la! was featured in more than 10 national magazines, including Surfing, People, Life & Style, US Weekly, Star, In Touch and Women’s Health. The most memorable is of a pregnant Britney Spears who was photographed wearing two of Ireland’s suits while vacationing in Miami with then husband Kevin Federline and son Sean Preston.

“I am constantly getting feedback from girls and women of all ages stating that they are so grateful for the flattering fit and forgiving cuts of the garments,” says Ireland. “I spend countless hours obsessing over creating styles that will flatter the figure and make women look and feel their best.”

The 2007 Hula-la! line can be found at Allure, Aloha Swim & Golf, Beaches Hawaii, Cosmopolitan, Hana Highway Surf, Kailua Beach Walk, Maui Girl, Tropical Rush, and other fine stores throughout Hawaii, the Mainland, Australia and Europe.
