Island Edge At Ala Moana Center
Wednesday - December 01, 2010
Island Edge recently opened at Ala Moana Center (mall level, across from Victoria’s Secret), offering an exclusive collection of contemporary island fashions and lifestyle accessories for men and women.
The store also features limited, one-of-a-kind items made by Hawaii’s newest and most talented fashion designers, artisans and jewelers, as well as established local designers.
Some of the brands available are Fighting Eel, Trina Turk, Haley Bob, Voom by Joy Han, Martinique, Roberta Oaks, Kim Taylor Reece, Andy Mohan, Leighton Lam, Amos Kotomori, Linda Ching, Meesha, Soozu, Tutuvi, Indige, Ken Makuakane and more.
The store is a new retail concept by Pomare LTD, which does business as Hilo Hattie.
In an effort to give local fashion designers an opportunity to begin or advance their careers, Island Edge hosted a fashion competition where designers were required to submit a men’s or women’s clothing outfit in the form of one wearable garment and design sketches. The winner, Sina Thompson, was announced Nov. 12, and as part of her prize, she will have her outfit manufactured and sold in the store, receive naming rights for the label and royalties from all sales. She also received $2,000 in prize money and $1,000 to donate to a charity of her choice. The store plans to make this an annual competition.
