The 37th Annual Hui Makaala Scholarship Fund Luncheon and Fashion Show takes place Sunday, Oct. 22 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel-Hawaii Ballroom with fashions by local designer Jeanie Chun.

Originally from Seoul, Korea, Chun has invested more than 30 years in the fashion industry in Hawaii and across the U.S., Canada, France and Japan. She specializes in elegant, special occasion outfits and dresses, including mother of the bride and groom attire.

“My designs are romantic and feminine,” says Chun. “It’s simple and classic and can be worn by young ladies or older missies. I also use a lot of soft flowing fabrics, such as silk chiffon, which gives a more elegant look. And I use a lot of Victorian style which is good for both evening and afternoon wear.”

Featured here is a selection of Chun’s 2007 collection to be shown at the upcoming Hui Makaala Fashion Show. Boutique sales and a silent auction opens at 9 a.m. with the luncheon, entertainment and door prizes at noon, and the fashion show at 1 p.m. Event tickets are $50 each, $500 for a table of 10, or $1,000 for a Corporate Table (table of 10). Proceeds benefit the Hui Makaala Scholarship Fund. For more information, call 395-7229, 551-7868 or 387-2451.
