Lilian McDonnell has always been drawn to antique shops and consignment stores, and after a couple of years of constantly thinking about having her own “high-end” consignment store, she finally decided to open Kailua Verde Boutique & Consignment last November.

“The store caters mainly to women and children, but we will accept high-end fashion for men on consignment,” explains McDonnell, who was born and raised in El Salvador. “We’re selective about what we take. Space is limited and we want to offer customers high-end products they won’t be able to find anywhere else.”

Kailua Verde Boutique keeps consigned items for 60 days, and the owner of the consigned item receives 50 percent of the profit in cash or 60 percent in store credit for fashion, and 75 percent for jewelry and crafts. Interested consignors can call 261-6190 to make an appointment.

“We try to set our prices low enough that it’s always a good deal,” adds McDonnell. “Once people discover the benefits of resale shopping, they rarely go back to paying full price again.” Kailua Verde Boutique & Consignment is located at 111 Hekili St., Suite 102 in Kailua across from Foodland.
