Also on the runway will be fashions from a new local designer, Kami Atelier by Kami Lizares.

Lizares, who was inspired by old family photos and vintage magazines, has been working on her Pearl Collection for about two years, creating attire for special occasions and portraits. The collection is mostly for girls, but she intends to add bridal and women’s as well as a few items for boys.

“The goal was to create heirloom clothing and items that can be passed down to other generations,” she says. “I love to use luxurious fabrics like silk, lace and soft cotton.”

Pictured here is a selection of the Pearl Collection from Kami Atelier by Kami Lizares, as well as fashions from Adoracion Boutique.

Lizares plans to open a boutique and sewing school for adults and children in Manoa this June. “Another love and passion of mine is sewing,” she explains. “I am trying to revive the art of sewing along with Yvonne Izumi at Izumi Arts in Kaimuki.” For more information, e-mail Lizares at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
