La Diosa Swimwear unveils its newest collection at a fashion show July 31 during the monthly ‘80s Pop Muzik event at Bar 35 in Chinatown from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. There will be giveaways throughout the night, including La Diosa Swimwear to one lucky person. The event is open to adults age 21 and over, and there is a $5 cover charge.
In business for two years, La Diosa Swimwear was introduced to the Islands earlier this year. Owner/designer Mariel Garrido Melchor, who is from Argentina, moved to Hawaii two years ago and co-designs the swimwear with friend and Argentinean designer Marina Bornand.
La Diosa, which is Spanish for the goddess, features a special combination of colors and styles to create a unique look that is both sophisticated and fun. Products are manufactured in Argentina, and the line includes swimwear and coverups that can go from day to night. “When I moved here in March 2008, I couldn’t find swimwear that I was used to in Argentina,” says Garrido Melchor. “I wanted a bikini that would enhance a woman’s figure. Also, our suits are comfortable, flattering, one-of-a-kind and affordable.”
On Oahu, La Diosa Swimwear is available at Allure, Becca Beach, Therapy in Kahala Mall, Bikinis & Things, and My Evolution.
