Little Honeys
Wednesday - February 15, 2006
Little Honeys has released its 2006 collection of exclusive swimwear for girls featuring 12 different prints in bright colors and trims.
“We’ve also made a few reversible styles,” says Louisa Ngum, owner and designer. “Our line is made in the U.S.A. of high quality fabric, elastic, and construction. We use a highgrade lining fabric that resists snagging and adds opacity and strength to the garment.
“Also, you can mix and match any style top with any bottom for your perfect combination.” Ngum, who grew up on a boat in the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor, set her goals on becoming a swimwear designer out of necessity. She learned to make swimsuit patterns, and in 1997 launched her first line Honey Girl.
As an avid beach-goer, she and her friends would test the suits in the water themselves for fit and comfort.
In 2000, Ngum gave birth to her first daughter, Chelsea, which inspired her to add a girls’ line — Little Honeys. The prints coordinate with the Honey Girl line, so mommy and daughter can sport matching suits. Sizes range from 1-Toddler (which fits a one-year-old) to size 14-Girls.
Little Honeys can be found at various stores across Oahu, including Splash Girls (Ala Moana), Kahala Kids (Kahala Mall), Baby Showers (in Kailua), Get Wet (Windward Mall), Da Board Shop (in Mililani), and Hale Nalu (in Waianae).
