Little People
Wednesday - January 25, 2006
Fifteen years ago, sisters Laurie Rodriguez and Pat Perreira decided to open a specialty store called Little People Hawaii to cater to the needs of families in Waikiki.
Today the company has grown to include three retail stores, drawing parents and their keiki from around the island with their huge selection of children’s clothing, toys, books, games, art kits, puzzles, stuffed animals and more.
“We try to get things that are more educational,” says Rodriguez. “My sister and I have a lot of retail experience, and when we opened our first store we decided to work in the kids market because kids are so fresh and innocent. It’s fun. And we both have children.”
Rodriguez, a 1972 graduate of Kailua High, has five grown children. Perreira, a 1970 graduate of Kailua, has two children.
Little People Hawaii is located in Ward Warehouse, Outrigger Waikiki Hotel and the Outrigger Reef Hotel. For more information, call 593-1772.
