Made In Hawaii Festival
Wednesday - August 10, 2005
Celebrate Hawaii’s best at the 10th annual Made in Hawaii Festival Aug. 19-21 at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
Presented by First Hawaiian Bank, the event will feature more than 420 exhibitors with a variety of locally made products ranging from food, crafts and apparel to household goods and more.
“The Made in Hawaii Festival is one of Hawaii’s best shopping experiences,” says Richard Botti, president of the Hawaii Food I n d u s t r y Association, which produces the festival. “Shoppers can meet with artisans, learn more about their products, and support local businesses. And exhibitors often unveil their newest products at the festival, so shoppers have the first opportunity to see unique products.
“This year we’re especially proud of the exhibitors who have grown with us since year one, exhibitors such as Tahitian Goddess, Creations of Hawaii, Lahaole Lima Creations and All Butter Dreams, among others.”
There also will be cooking demonstrations by some of Hawaii’s top chefs and musical performances by various local artists, including Alea, Melveen Leed, Jay Larrin, Raiatea Helm, Aunty Genoa Keawe, Nathan Aweau, Maunalua, Marlene Sai and Frank DeLima. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 19 and 20, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 21.
Admission is $2, free for children under 6. There will also be free parking at the City Municipal Lot (corner of Beretania and Alapai streets) on Friday and Saturday with a $2 round trip trolley shuttle service to Blaisdell Center.
