I discovered a new store to add to my list of favorites, only to find out that, well, the store isn’t that new. Mary Z’s in Kailua has been in business for 13 years, and unfortunately for Kailuans, I’m letting the secret out.
“Our store is devoted to the local people in our community,” says owner Terrie Farmakis. “It’s geared toward the mother, daughter and tutu. Our clothing is affordable and semi-trendy with an island flavor.”
From teenagers to kupuna, Mary Z’s carries an eclectic mix of clothing and accessories from popular labels such as Free People, Fighting Eel, Citron, Chinese Laundry, MAVI and Silver Premium Jeans, San Francisco City Lights, Angie, Lani and Cut Loose. There are also bags and accessories from Cambodia and Bali, and jewelry by Kaila Kennedy Designs and the fine Pelah Collection. And this month the store is adding the beautiful modal collection of 3 Dot, the art-inspired Nuvula and Silver Jeans’ spiritualized tees.
