Miki House At Ala Moana Center
Wednesday - January 14, 2009
The first stand-alone Miki House store in the U.S. has opened at Ala Moana Center, featuring high-quality, unique children’s wear and accessories.
“We have very colorful and happy clothes that are very age appropriate,” says Susan Shiraishi, owner of Miki House Hawaii. “Miki House is known for their quality children’s apparel, and best known for their children’s shoes, which are especially good for children just learning how to walk. Our shoes are our best sellers.”
Miki House originated in Japan more than 30 years ago. The Hawaii store carries the full line of Miki House, Hot Biscuits and Miki House First clothing and accessories.
“About five years ago when I had my first child, Ali, we were looking to buy clothes that were different and unique, but everybody had the same style of clothes,” says Shiraishi on why she opened the store. “My mother-in-law lives in Japan and had sent us a bunch of Miki House clothes for our baby, and my husband, Ron, and I just fell in love with it.
“We’ve always wanted to open our own business and we thought Miki House would do well in Hawaii. I think there’s a niche here for quality children’s wear.”
Shiraishi, a 1989 graduate of Kalani High School, also works as a curriculum coordinator at Waikele Elementary School.
At Ala Moana Center, Miki House is located on the mall level in the new Nordstrom wing. For more information, call 955-5925.
