MIKINOLA
Wednesday - December 14, 2011
Dara Fujio of Mikinola (right photo) hosts a shopping event Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ala Moana Pacific Center (same building as Shokudo restaurant), offering affordable day-to-night looks that can be worn over and over again.
After eight years of experience in the fashion industry, including styling and working at various boutiques, plus a business and APDM (apparel product design and merchandising) degree from the University of Hawaii, Fujio decided to start her own business at the beginning of this year. Most of her inventory was sold through Facebook, with pieces selling out as soon as she would post pictures of them. “Mikinola is for any type of girl, young or old, edgy or sweet,” says Fujio, noting that the company is named after her two dogs. “We will always have something for the everyday girl. Each piece allows you to style it in a way that suits your own personal style. We like to shoot the same top in different ways to teach the customer versatility and how to match their own personality and style.” Some of the brands available are Minkpink, Matiko Shoes, Motel Rocks, For Love and Lemons, Florencia Arias and exclusive pieces from
Cassandra Rull. Fujio also has been working on an online store, which she expects to have up and running by 2012.
