Tested and approved - the men of MidWeek reveal their favorite things, from fashion accessories to tech toys to musical instruments. They own it, they love it, and chances are you will too.

“I’ve been using the Lancome Star Bronzer Magic Golden Spray for several years now,” says Joji Yoshida. “When you use it, it gives you kind of a glow. When I go clubbing, the girls seem to notice it because it sparkles.”

Many of our MidWeek men admitted that fashion wasn’t their forte. Instead, their extra time and money is spent on toys, gadgets and hobbies.

For Kimo Akane, his latest favorite find is the book Winning by Jack Welch. “Winning is a no-nonsense guide that explains in simple language what it takes to win in business and in life,” says Akane. “From missions and values to balancing work and life, Jack and many other smart people have invested a lot of time and energy solving some of life’s and business’s complex issues. All we have to do is be wise enough to try these solutions on for size. What he advises may not be practical for everyone or every situation, but it’s great starting point.

“Unlike his first book, this book is an easy read, but applying it is easier read than done.”

Whether they admit it or not, I believe all guys have at least one fashion favorite - from their everyday T-shirt and jeans to their favorite sports team garb. However, it seems that most of the time this item was not purchased themselves, but given as a gift.

“My favorite Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses were a gift from my wife, no occasion, just because,” says Ron Nagasawa. “They’re classic - my dad wore this style nearly 50 years ago and they’ve held up through the years with Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and, of course, Jake Blues.”

So, now that you’re done shopping for everyone else in your life, treat yourself to something nice. But before you do, here are some suggestions. - YU SHING TING
