Petite Fashions
Wednesday - October 26, 2005
Calling all women 5 foot 4 inches and under. Meet petite fashion expert Kim Dahlman and preview fall’s petite collection at Macy’s Ala Moana, Petites Department (Level 3), Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
“Did you know that petite refers to an all-over proportioning of the body from head-to-toe, not left-to- right?” explains Lavina Wong, director of special events for Macy’s. “Anyone 5-4 or under who wears a size 2 to 16 is considered a petite customer. A petite customer can have the same bust and hip measurement as a misses size customer. However, misses clothing does not fit properly because a petite woman has a shorter body frame.”
Dahlman, a nationally recognized petite fashion specialist and author of The Petite Handbook, will host a special petite fashion show highlighting fall fashions from Eileen Fisher, INC International Concepts, Ralph Lauren, Style & Co., and many more. Dahlman, who has 20 plus years of experience in the petite fashion industry and a 5-4 stature, will provide unique insight into the special fashion requirements of petite women.
According to The Petite Handbook, wearing the same color from head-to-toe always makes a petite woman look taller, a v-neckline makes a short body frame look longer, and neck treatments and special details featured on the top half of the petite figure draw attention upward for added height.
Following the show at Macy’s, customers will be treated to refreshments while they shop and receive a gift bag with items from featured designers and a copy of The Petite Handbook. A suggested donation of $10 will benefit the American Heart Association.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and reservations are encouraged. For more information or to RSVP, call 945-6427.
