The Associated Chinese University Women (ACUW) marks its 75th anniversary with its annual fashion show fundraiser featuring Shanghai Tang on Saturday, April 15, at the Sheraton Waikiki, Hawaii Ballroom.

On the runway will be designs for men, women and children from Shanghai Tang’s 2006 Spring and Summer ready-to-wear and Imperial Tailoring collections, including many one-of-a-kind pieces.

The new collection is based on Chinese contemporary art, and features a variety of tops, pants, dresses and jackets. To underscore the theme, Shanghai Tang worked with several of China’s top artists, as well as China’s most celebrated institute of fine arts, the Central Institute of Fine Arts, to commission a series of works from the university’s most promising students.

The fashion show fundraiser opens with boutique vendors and a silent auction at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by the fashion show. There also will be entertainment by Al Waterson, Cathy Foy and Debbie Nakanelua-Richards. The fashion show will be produced by ADR. Tickets are $55.

Proceeds will go toward a scholarship and community service fund. Last year’s grants included five college scholarships, four Science Fair awards, two History Day awards and a $5,000 donation to Palolo Chinese Home. For tickets or more information, call 478-1221 or 753-4498.
