Sweet Peas, a new maternity shop in Windward Oahu, celebrates its grand opening Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m.

The store was a dream shared by mother Cynthia Naweli and daughter Ana Matsumoto, and developed into a family operation with dad Rev. Jacob Naweli and Ana’s husband, Ken Matsumoto.

“Shopping experiences for mommy-to-be is limited in selection and styles,” says Matsumoto about her recent pregnancy with daughter Ary. “Pregnancy is a celebration of life, and women need options to express beauty within the womb even in apparel and accessories.”

The store will carry a wide selection of high quality maternity clothing and accessories from popular brands such as Olian, Duet Designs, Rubyvan, Belly Basics, Modern Maternity, Majamas, Glamourmom, Expressiva, Japanese Weekend, and Bravado. There are also specialty and baby items, including Posh Baby, Kimberly House, Tea Collection, Kushies, Kissy Kissy, Mustela, Little Twig, Earth Mama Angel Baby, and Inner Chai.

“Sweet Peas also features its very own signature ‘sweet wraps’ line of custom-made gift baskets,” adds Matsumoto. “An alternative to flowers, customers can purchase pre-made or create-your-own baskets. For a nominal fee, we will provide a delivery service to any local hospital within 24 to 48 hours. Books are available for baby and mommy. And Sweet Peas will post current class activity information and instructional experiences to take expectant mothers through nine months of pregnancy and beyond.”

Sweet Peas is located at 1090 Keolu Drive Suite 105 (Keolu Shopping Center). Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call 263-PEAS (7327).
