Tara’s Secret Closet, an upscale resale and vintage consignment boutique, celebrates its one-year anniversary with a special event Jan. 22 from 6 to 9 p.m., in partnership with Fashion With A Cause. At the event, 20 percent of the proceeds from all merchandise sold will be donated to Pure Beauty Project, a program under the nonprofit Positive Connections Inc. There also will be appetizers and “chic” door prizes. Attendees are welcome to bring in their gently used designer handbags to be resold to benefit Pure Beauty Project.

Tara’s Secret Closet offers a variety of popular labels such as Bebe, Banana Republic and Ann Taylor, as well as designer brands such as Gucci, Escada, Roberto Cavalli and more.

Clothing, jewelry, shoes and accessories are accepted in exchange for a store credit. Also, select designer handbags, such as Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, can be traded in for cash.

“I was born and raised in Texas, started modeling at 16 and have always had a passion for fashion,” says boutique owner Tara Phillips (pictured below). “I’m also very frugal, which is something I learned from my mom who used to always shop resale boutiques.”

Phillips describes her store as very feminine, classy and fun. She also carries vintage clothing from the 1970s and before.

Tara’s Secret Closet is located at 2013 S. King St. near McCully. For more information, visit fashionwithacause.com or call 942-2442.
