The Acuw Presents Generations Of Aloha
Wednesday - April 01, 2009
The Associated Chinese University Women (ACUW) celebrates its 78th anniversary with its annual fashion show fundraiser April 11 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Ballroom.
This year’s show, titled Generations of Aloha, is produced by Princess Kaiulani Fashions and will feature exquisite reproductions of Monarchy gowns housed at the Bishop Museum, as well as adaptations of holoku, mu’umu’u and retro island wear spanning the decades to present day Hawaii.
Princess Kaiulani Fashions celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and commemorates Hawaii’s 50th Anniversary of Statehood with celebrity models on the runway, including Vivian Aiona and former first ladies Jean Ariyoshi and Vicky Cayetano, along with some of their family members. While on stage, they also will be modeling Easter hats to be auctioned off to the highest bidder for scholarship awards.
There also will be boutique sales outside of the ballroom from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a silent auction from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Doors to the ballroom open at 11 a.m. and the fashion show luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased by calling 988-6197.
