Ida Teiti has always enjoyed wearing pareos, and she wears them in many different ways.

She also has a love for fashion and design, and in 2008 created Tiare Teiti, a clothing line for men and women that “brings the colors, designs and feel of Tahiti to Hawaii.”

A flight attendant for Hawaiian Airlines since 1986, Teiti was born and raised in Tautira, Tahiti, until she was orphaned at age 9, and came to Hawaii as a hanai daughter of entertainers Don and Josie Over. Now 47, Teiti returns to her roots through her fashions, which represent the colors, culture and women of Tahiti.

“I played around with clothes for myself for the longest time, and the compliments I received from others helped me gain the courage to actually try to design a line of clothing,” she says. “Tiare Teiti allows me to share my ideas with others.”

Tiare Teiti is available at T&C Surf Designs, Get Wet in Windward Mall and at tiareteiti.com.
