Musical Profession: I’m an on-air personality at Hawaiian 105 KINE, and you can hear me Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight. I’m also the promotions director for Hawaiian 105 KINE and Krater 96.
Hometown: I grew up in Kalihi, but have been living in Mililani Mauka for the past 10 years with my wife Michele and our sons Hunter, who is 4, and Logan, who is 2.
High school graduated from: Farrington High School, home of the Governors.
Where can you be spotted at? At any one of our radio stations’ promotions, browsing the aisles of the Mililani Wal-Mart (unreal, the people you run into at Wal-Mart) and if not there usually at home with my family. What’s the best part about your job? The great people I work with, meeting our listeners (they’re the best!) and helping to perpetuate Hawaiian music.
What’s your favorite music to listen to? I like all genres of music from hip-hop, R&B, country, jazz, pop, alternative to reggae. I like them all, but I love Hawaiian music!
Any gigs or events coming up? Our stations will be at the Spring New Product Show at the Blaisdell the last weekend in April. We also have the Aloha Friday Luncheon Show celebrating Administrative Professional’s Week at the Shore Bird Restaurant on Friday, April 27, and the 80th annual Lei Day Celebration at Kapiolani Park on Tuesday, May 1.
How did you get your start in the radio business? Back in 1992, 105.1 FM changed from an oldies format to Hawaiian, and I was hired as a board operator for Uncle Sam Kapu when he did the morning show on Hawaiian 105 KINE. I then was given a weekend shift and eventually the night show. Now, 15 years later, I’m still working at this great radio station.
Any music-related accomplishments? Last year I co-wrote and voiced a spot for one of our clients, and it won a Pele Award of Merit.
