Wow, this is almost like a trick question - we have so many. We just kicked off our new Wednesday weekly called the Listening Party at the Hanohano Room. It’s a free acoustic event that runs from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Wednesday. We’re doing the Adasa Boutique Grand Opening Jan. 26. We have the Grey Goose New Flavor Launch Party at Skyline Feb. 17. We have Two at Palomino, the next one is on March 10, and of course Skyline every first and third Saturday. During spring break, the Bacardi Pool Parties start back up at the Sheraton (Waikiki). Believe it or not, we are already working on New Year’s Eve.
What makes a great party?
The people. Nothing else really matters when you get right down to it. It’s kinda like if you go out with your friends, you can have fun doing anything, anywhere, but on a bigger scale. That’s what makes events like Halloween and New Year’s Eve so fun. Everyone is in a great mood to party, and that always makes any event rad.
Musical accomplishments:
Ha, ha - none except for booking great talent.
Favorite genre of music:
I love it all except country and western. It depends on my mood, but I was born a rocker for sure.
How did you get into the promoting business? :
I started behind the bar when I was 18, opened up my own club with some friends in the business when I was 24, closed my club when I was 26, ha, ha. Then I started doing the weekly Pussycat Lounge at The Wave. I parlayed that into the full-time promotions director position at The Wave. That’s basically where I learned almost everything that I apply today.
