Age: 26
Hometown: Honolulu
Musical occupation:
Green Light Go creator, owner, executive producer, performer, composer, arranger, songwriter, sound engineer, mixer, artist, private instructor and Hawaiian falsetto singer.
How did you get into the music business?
Family habit, I guess.
What kind of music do you enjoy playing?
Whatever I can inspire people with, but more often than not, I like to incorporate rhythmic pulses, surprising sound effects and catchy melodies in everything I perform. That means slight variations in arrangement,if necessary. I’m big on collaboration, because it’s all been done before. Synergy in music satiates my creative side. But before you brand me a fusion artist, know that the final authority in my musical preference is whatever makes my spirits rise.
Any other upcoming/ongoing gigs?
Not right now, I’m busy with my next two CDs. One will be entirely of Hawaiian music and the other everything else (hip-hop, reggae, pop, folk, a cappella and instrumental). Look for them anytime between December and January. I also produce other artists. I will also be performing at the Mahalo Fest this month.
Can you tell me about the Mahalo Fest?
The Mahalo Fest starts at noon Nov. 17 at Hawaiian Brian’s Billiards.Advance tickets are $20, and $25 at the door. Admission covers food, drink, music, parking and some game tokens. (Tickets can be purchased at UHManoa Campus Center, Jelly’s in Aiea, Hungry Ear in Kailua, Hawaii’s Natural High and www.presaleticketsonline.com).
What are you goals musically?
For right now, to get my album She’s Grumpy It’s My Fault worldwide distribution. I’m also hoping to get a shot at pitching my Green Light Go remix to any large movie production looking for a great theme song. One more goal is to get my production company producing in the high ranks while getting as much radio play for my indie music as possible.
