Kaneohe’s very own Paul Hanna ponied up all his musical talents for a four-part album that includes recordings Hanna created more than five years ago.

As the Mid-Pac graduate explains, “This album (Lefty Lucea) is completely different from the first album (FollowNoTrends) because some of these recordings are from when I was recording on a $10 microphone, but it actually came out OK. All I had to do is master them, and the other songs took me about four months to record.”

A personal project to say the least, Hanna wrote all the lyrics, did all the instrumentation, produced, recorded and also distributes the album. “My music is a mirror of me, and that’s what makes it different,“says Hanna.

His album includes 17 tracks grouped together in A,B, C and D categories. Many of the songs are intimate pieces that reflect Hanna and his journey over the past years.

“The past few years have been hard for me emotionally,” says Hanna. “A handful of the songs talk about how not to go somewhere, or if you feel something is wrong, to leap out of it before you get sucked into it. It ranges from having a good day, to not to judge people to don’t go down the wrong road, and a couple are love songs.” A civil engineer by day, Hanna definitely considers music his passion, not his profession. However, he has recently relocated to San Diego to try to pursue music more seriously. “My goal is to continue my career,” says Hanna. “But my music goal is to have a great guitar player, percussion player and bass player to promote my music. My other goal is to get marketing support with a label.”
