Fresh from the Raggamuffins Reggae Tour, Midnite is coming to Hawaii for an all-out, 100 percent pure roots reggae performance.

Hailing from the island of St. Croix, Midnite weaves the cultural lyrics of old school roots music with the modern day to create a unique listening experience. It is renowned for its innovative lyrics and explosive performances, and will be bringing its positive energy to Pipeline Cafe Thursday, March 6. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Joining Midnite on stage is Hawaii’s very own reggae sensation, Ooklah the Moc. The Palolo Valley-based band that dabbles in original roots dub and reggae music has been a force in the Islands since 1997.

Tickets for the 18-and-over concert cost $22 in advance, available at Butigroove, Jelly’s, Holy Smokes, Twelve Tribes, Hungry Ear, Hale Nalu, Pipeline Cafe, UH Campus Center and online at www.inticketing.com

Midnite’s lead singer, Vaughn Benjamin, has an electrifying voice and potent lyrical style. His brother Ron’s exquisite musical directorship and outstanding bass lines form the nucleus of this group. Drummer Christian ‘Sly’ Molinna-Curet lays down crucial one drops, while Ankh Watep rounds it out on keyboards. Edmund Fieulleteau and Kenny Byron complete the crew with their excellent guitar work.
