Kaneohe residents Thomas Cayetano and Scott Sutherland won scholarships from the Hawaii State FCU (for credit union members or dependents) to pursue their studies at Central Michigan University and UH Manoa, respectively ... The Marine base honored Kailua civilian Bob Porter, 85, on his retirement this month after 67 years of service to the Corps. In uniform, Bob fought in World War II (Guadalcanal), Korea and Vietnam and was the first sergeant-major at the Kaneohe air station. He followed that with 37 years in community services at the base, co-founded the Windward Community FCU, and has generally helped and supported everyone he can.
