You never know who you might run into on Kailua beach. Take Lanikai artist Tomi Kobara. She’s now a cover girl. The February issue of American Artist magazine put her 1977 painting Elizabeth on the front and ran an inside story on her award-winning expressionist technique. Now in her 80s but going strong, Tomi walks the beach regularly with friends between her prolific painting sessions.
