Fire Capt. Debbi Eleneki of Waimanalo was honored Sept. 30 as HFD Uniformed Employee of the Year. The 24-year veteran (from a family of male firefighters) manages apparatus and equipment purchasing for the department and was HFD’s first female firefighter and fire captain ... This year’s Windward Half Marathon was won by (hurray!) Kailua resident Cindy Anderson, who beat out 385 runners Sept. 11 in the 30th annual race.
