Kailua resident Eric Yamamoto will be honored Friday by the Japanese American Citizens League. For decades, the nationally recognized UH law professor has championed civil rights and racial justice, including the Japanese internment case which led to reparations ... Speaking of justice, Kaneohe residents Christyna Ivers and Simon Hamilton are devastated by the disappearance of their pet Bengal cat, Braveheart, and they suspect a neighbor. The couple is trying to raise a reward of $10,000 for information about the cat. “Animals heal people in emotional crisis,” says Christyna, “and they are companions for the elderly and infirm; they fight crime, serve their country and assist as therapeutic aides.” Call 343-1348 or 345-0537 ...
