Del.icio.usDr. Daniel Fischberg of Kailua has won the Ke Kauka Pookela (Outstanding Physician) of the Year Award for 2006 from his colleagues and patients at The Queen’s Medical Center. It honors a Queen’s staff physician who possesses compassion, aloha, respect, understanding and overall excellence. Daniel specializes in end-of-life care. (2006 was a good year for him - he also was named Hospice Hawaii Physician of the Year) ...

The Japan Foundation tapped Le Jardin Academy senior Sean Gershaneck for a full scholarship to a language-immersion summer program at Kansai Institute in Osaka. Sean is one of only three American high school seniors selected for the two-week program for 40 students from around the world ... The Board of Water Supply liked the water conservation posters submitted by Yashi Abraham (Aikahi Elementary) and Alex Theriot (St. Anthony’s). Both young artists received honorable mention in the annual islandwide contest. Theme was Conserving Water Starts with Me! ...
