It’s MidWeek‘s highly anticipated 11th annual swimsuit issue, photographed once again by glamour photographer Russell Tanoue. Working behind the lens for the past 20 years, Tanoue has become one of the island’s most in-demand photographers.

“I have been so fortunate to have such amazing fans and followers who support all that I do,” he says. “There is always something new that falls on my plate. As of today, I’m working on several projects both in the nightlife and beauty industry. Not to forget, my 14th annual Russell Tanoue Birthday Project Celebration is slated for July 10 at Pearl.”

In addition to his hectic shooting schedule, Tanoue says there are several national companies seeking his work for greeting cards, postcards and coffee table books. Also, KoreAm magazine out of Los Angeles is using two of his images of actor Daniel Dae Kim in its current issue.

At night, Tanoue plays host at his monthly Beautiful event at Pearl Ultralounge in Ala Moana Center. The next one is scheduled for May 29 with special appearances by this year’s MidWeek swimsuit issue models.

The Sheraton Waikiki served as the backdrop for MidWeek‘s 2010 swimsuit cover shoot. After nearly five years and $187 million rein-vested into its product, the resort completed its renovations in February with new guest rooms and suites, dramatically redesigned public areas, a new family-friendly resort pool with a 15-by-70-foot water slide, the unveiling of Waikiki’s first Infinity Edge pool and more.

The Sheraton offers kamaaina packages with rates starting at $179, 2 p.m. early check-in and 2 p.m. late checkout, 25 percent off at selected food and beverage outlets and free parking. For more information, visit www.sheraton-waikiki.com or call 922-4422.

For swimwear, we selected the latest styles from Allure Swimwear (located in Royal Hawaiian Center and Hilton Hawaiian Village), Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Maui-based Letarte by Lisa Cabrinha.

According to Letarte, which had 12 of its bikinis in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, trends for swim 2010 include soft and feminine colors, lacy details, bright neon colors and ocean-inspired prints. Created by sisters Lisa Letarte Cabrinha and Michele Letarte Ross, the company also has a loyal celebrity following. Customers include Beyonce Knowles, Eva Longoria Parker, Cindy Crawford and Paris Hilton.
