Blake Schaeffer - Kathy Muller Agency Cosabella swimsuit $98 and Alexis Bittar bangle $295 from Neiman Marcus
Roycen Dehmer - Kathy Muller Agency Anna Club by La Perla sarong $165 from Allure

This year’s selection of swimwear comes from retailers Allure and Ai Amour Luxury Lingerie located at the Royal Hawaiian Center, Neiman Marcus and Hawaiian Island Creations, as well as designers Letarte Swimwear and Pualani Hawaii.

The backdrop is magnificent The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection, which recently completed a $60 million renovation.

Known as the “Pink Palace of the Pacific,” the historic Royal Hawaiian hotel opened in February 1927 on 14 acres of prime Waikiki beachfront. The area was used as a playground for King Kamehameha I after he conquered the island of Oahu, and Queen Kaahumanu’s Summer Palace was previously located in what is now the hotel’s Coconut Grove garden.

Also, during World War II, The Royal Hawaiian was leased exclusively to the U.S. Navy as a rest and recreation center for the Pacific Fleet before reopening to the public in February 1947.

Today, the hotel’s distinctive architecture and rosy hue remain, but 21st century upgrades have been made such as modernized bathrooms and completely refurnished guest rooms, including perfectly suited pink-and-white custom wallpaper designed through Philpotts & Associates.

Also new are the luxurious cabanas located beachfront and poolside, and Azure - a world-class restaurant offering the finest in fish and seafood.

This summer, pack your swimsuits and escape to luxury without leaving the island at The Royal Hawaiian.

Russell Tanoue, Photographer

This year, glamour photographer Russell Tanoue celebrates 20 years of working in the industry of making people look and feel good.

In addition to his hectic schedule of photo shoots, Tanoue is busy with events, including the return of his Beautiful club event at Pearl Ultra Lounge on the last Saturday of each month, his 13th annual Birthday Project Celebration - Inspire, the White Party (slated for August), and a new networking happy hour soon to launch at Bonsai Restaurant and Lounge.

His secret to 20 years of success, he says, is realness. “Yup, keeping it real. There will always be someone better than you, but know that you are unique and stay that way. Don’t try to be like someone else and always be the best you can be, not only with your craft, but with people.”
