Area Church Gets Miracle Makeover

Del.icio.usA miracle is expected this week in the form of an “extreme church makeover” at 1710 Royal Palm Drive.
Wahiawa Christian Church members got ready for Miracle Week with a pre-miracle workday Aug. 7. But on Aug. 16 all heaven breaks loose when about 100 volunteers from three local churches, including 60 California and Nevada souls, will arrive to repair and beautify the half-century old church, along with its sister churches in Honolulu and Kailua. Physical labor, worship and fellowship are required for the effort, described as “an Amish barn-raising, where neighbors all come together to do important work in a very short time that could never have been done alone.”
In Wahiawa they’ll paint the sanctuary, fix doors, improve the restrooms, refinish the pews, landscape and more.
To celebrate the weeklong makeover, WCC invites the public in for chicken dinner and entertainment by Leilehua High’s Polynesian Club dancers from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 19). For more information, call 621-5818.
Miracle Week is a partnership of Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Pacific Southwest Region and its three Oahu affiliates: WCC, First Christian Church of Honolulu and Christ Church Uniting Presbyterians and Disciples of Kailua.
