Work by about 140 artists will be on view and for sale at Haleiwa Arts Festival’s SummerArtFest, set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 18 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 19 at Haleiwa Beach Park.

The 12th annual art showcase, with the theme “Rediscover the Artist Within,” also offers storytelling, art activities and face painting for the keiki, and a variety of food from hot dogs to vegetarian menus, shave ice to smoothies. Nearby Haleiwa town restaurants also welcome the hungry art crowd both days.

Festival executive director Gary Anderson said the event’s 2009 T-shirt design is by Kailua painter Colin Redican, a first-timer to the event. Work by Laie artist Jeffrey Hemming graces the cover of the program and promotional posters.

Among the exhibitors are women’s championship surfer and oil painter Lynne Boyer, Waialua painter Margo Goodwill, Haleiwa portrait artist Mary Beth Snider and Santa Barbara furniture sculptor Victor Dinovi.

Attendees can browse the galleries and shops and enjoy music, hula, performance arts, cultural history tours and ethnic dance troupes.

“Rain or shine we will be there,” noted Anderson.
