Music of the Austrian alps emanated from the Wheeler Middle School auditorium last weekend, and you can hear it again this Saturday and Sunday in Oahu Arts Center’s fall musical, The Sound of Music.

Directed and choreographed by Kristi Kashimoto-Rowbottom (her newly married name), the production features dozens of actors young and old from the Central Oahu community.

“Wheeler Middle School is sponsoring our show this year,” explained Kashimoto-Rowbottom, “as until (the arts center) is built, we need to constantly find a venue to perform in.”

Tickets costs $15 and $10 and may be ordered by e-mailing her at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or calling 848-7632. Curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the school auditorium, located at Wheeler Army Airfield. (Best entry for civilians is Lyman gate off Kunia Road, after obtaining a pass from the Schofield side.)

Georg Von Trapp, Lisa Miyamoto Matsuda is Mother Abbess, Mike Walker is Max Dettweiler and Kimi Fergerstrom is Baroness Elsa Schraeder. The Von Trapp children are double-cast for the most part. Saturday’s children will be Davis Walker (Friedrich), Shyanne Wardle (Louisa), Seth Thomsen (Kurt), Emma Reed (Brigitta), Jacelyn Houghteling (Marta) and Ariana Kashimoto (Gretl).
