Taste of Waialua comes to Waialua Sugar Mill from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, featuring music, art, food and an open house of local surfboard craftsmen.

Co-sponsoring the annual festivities are Island X Hawaii, Old Sugar Mill Brand Coffee and Coffea Consulting to support and highlight the best of the North Shore’s coffee, cacao, produce, food, art, film, music and surfboard manufacturers. Also planned is an exhibition in the historic sugar mill, which closed in 1996 after a century of producing “the world’s best sugar.” The mill now is a visitor destination and processing site for coffee and cacao.

* Farmers Market - 8:30 a.m. Waialua Farmer’s Market co-op sells local produce.

* Coffee talk - 9:30 a.m. Shawn “Dr. Coffee” Steiman of Coffea Consulting leads a short seminar at Island X Hawaii on coffee roasting and how it affects cup quality.

* Clear Sky concert, marketplace - 10 a.m. Roshan & Shivani of Clear Sky play a concert, which kicks off an open market of more than 20 vendors and exhibits. Among the participants are Waialua Soda Works, Hawaii’s Special Salad Dressing, North Shore Naturals, Hawaii Chip Company, Mana Ai Poi Pounders, Francis’ Huli-Huli Kiawe BBQ Chicken and Oils of Aloha.

Throughout the day visitors can enjoy food sampling, live music, films, art exhibits, community booths and free coffee mill tours.
