* FOOTBALL HELP Mililani Football Association seeks volunteer head coaches for football (boys) and cheerleading (girls) in preparation for the 2012 Pop Warner season. Experience is preferred. For an interview, call 6222056. Player registration for Junior PeeWees and Midgets begins in April, and the season kicks off in August.

* BOOK SALE The Friends of Wahiawa Library plan a book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 23 and 25, noon to 8 p.m. Jan. 24 and 26, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 27, featuring books, CDs and videotapes at bargain prices to benefit the library. Call 622-6345.

* NEIGHBORS Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at Wahiawa District Park, North Shore meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at Haleiwa Elementary and MililaniWaipio-Melemanu meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at Mililani Rec Center III. For updates, call 768-3710.

* HIGH TECH Information on the Microsoft IT Academy is the topic at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at Kahuku Library. The briefing explains a free webbased, self-paced training program that offers more than 350 IT courses for library patrons of all ages. Call 293-8935.

* WAIALUA VOTES Waialua Community Association has its annual membership meeting to elect its trustees at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at 66-434 Kamehameha Hwy. Call 637-4606.

* BENEFIT GOLF Mililani High School Athletics Golf Tournament is Jan. 27 at Mililani Golf Course with proceeds going to the John Kauinana Scholarship Fund for male and female athletes. Signups are at 11 a.m. with shotgun start at noon. Call Glenn at 220-6440 or Gaile at 542-0850.

* MEETING DOGS Hawaii Dog Foundation hosts a “meet and greet” session with its adoptable dogs from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Mililani Mauka Dog Park, 95-1069 Ukuwai St. Call 782-8387.

* GET FIT Mililani Town Association sponsors a Get Fit Fair for the public from 2 to 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Mililani Rec Center 7, 95-1333 Lehiwa Drive, offering a variety of exhibitors, demonstrations and food to help residents realize their 2012 resolutions to get healthy and fit. Call 623-7300.

* EYEGLASSES Lions clubs collect used eyeglasses and dark glasses from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Mililani Walmart and Wahiawa Longs Drugs for the statewide “Recycle for Sight” project. Members clean and pack the glasses to send to developing countries where eye care is rare and costly.

* ART WALK The monthly Haleiwa Art Walk is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 28 in Haleiwa town, featuring sales, activities and events hosted by dozens of merchants. Call 637-4558.

* ELDER CARE Attorney Scott Suzuki presents “Four Legal Tools to Protect Yourself from Elder Abuse, Long-term Care Expenses and Taxes” at 11 a.m. Jan. 28 at Mililani Library. Call 627-7470.

* CACAO FEST Haleiwa Farmers Market presents its third annual Cacao Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 29 with exhibits, demonstrations, music, keiki activities and cacao farm tours. Admission is free and tours cost $5. The market is located near Haleiwa Beach Park by the Leong Bypass road. Call 3889696.

* FILM NIGHT Kahuku Library presents a free film night (with popcorn and refreshments) featuring The Help at 6 p.m. Jan. 31. Call 2938935.

* WAIALUA TALK Staff from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources meet the public for a final North Shore Listening Session at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in Waialua High & Intermediate cafeteria on topics important to residents. Call state Sen. Donovan Dela Cruz at 586-6090.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Leilehua High School, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 4 and 11 at Mililani Town Center, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 9 at Mililani High School, and 7 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 9 at Waialua Intermediate & High School gym. Call 845-9966.

* SCHOOL’S 50TH Volunteers meet at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at Wahiawa Middle School to continue planning the school’s 50th anniversary celebration. Call Ralph Yamada at 6226500, ext. 394.

* HI-5 DROP-OFF Mililani Project Grad collects HI-5 containers, glass and plastic bottles from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 4 at the high school. Call 383-3728.

* PUPPY BOWL Breakers Restaurant and Bar in Haleiwa hosts a “Puppy Bowl” from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 5 to benefit the Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Watch the Super Bowl and enjoy adoptable dogs, a silent auction, raffles, a deejay, drink specials and more. Call 754-1519.

* ART AUCTION The Friends of Waialua Library plan a silent auction from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 8 featuring the art and calligraphy of the late North Shore artist Bessie Yoneko Ibrao Fooks. Also planned are ikebana demonstrations by her daughter Laurel. Proceeds support the library. Call 637-8286.

* KOKUA ART Deadline is Feb. 11 for entries in the 2012-2013 Kokua Calendar Art Contest for grades K-12. Winners will be included in the Kokua Hawaii Foundation calendar. For more information, log onto kokuahawaiifoundation.org.
