Below are some highlights of what’s happening in the Central Oahu community for the next few weeks.

* LIBRARY FLICKS Wahiawa Library screens free “mystery” films at 6 p.m. June 26 (about monkeys), July 3 (about ice), July 10 (forest animals) and July 17 (finale); door prizes and refreshments, too. Call 622-6345.

* McGRUFF VISIT McGruff the Crime Dog visits Mililani Library at 6:30 p.m. June 27 to share stories and sing about crime prevention. Call 627-7470.

* RODEO The Hawaii Women’s Rodeo Association hosts a Jackpot Rodeo at 10 a.m. June 30 at the Kawailoa Ranch arena in Haleiwa. Call 668-9006.


* WAIALUA EVENTS July children’s programs at Waialua Library feature Billie Lueder of the Hawaiian Humane Society talking on pet care at 10 a.m. June 30; Dave Del Rocco telling stories at 10 a.m. July 6; Haleiwa firefighters telling stories at 10 a.m. July 14; Harry Potter Week activities July 15-21; and the summer reading finale at 10 a.m. July 21. * SWAP MEET Waipio Center hosts a community swap meet from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 30 in the parking lot across from Jack in the Box, offering more than 30 booths of items. Proceeds from the $20 booth fees will go to area schools and nonprofits. Call 288-2590.

* MILILANI STORIES Mililani Library presents preschool story-time at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through July 10 with guest readers from other libraries. Call 627-7470.

* BLOOD DRIVES The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 7 and July 21 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.

* NEIGHBORS The North Shore Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. June 26 and July 24 at Alii Beach Park; Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. July 16 at Wahiawa District Park, Hale Koa building; the Mililani Mauka-Launani Valley board meets at 7 p.m. July 17 at Mililani Mauka Elementary School cafeteria; the Mililani-WaipioMelemanu board recesses in June and meets again at 7:30 p.m. July 25 at Mililani Rec Center III; Call 527-5749.

* BON DANCES Haleiwa Shingon Mission has its bon dance at 8 p.m. July 13 and 14 at 66-469 Paalaa Road (637-4423); Haleiwa Jodo Mission’s bon dance is at 8 p.m. July 20-21 at 66-279A Haleiwa Road (637-4382); and the Wahiawa Ryusenji Soto Mission bon dances start at 7:30 p.m. July 27 and 28 at 164 California Ave. (622-1429).

* MAGIC Uncle Wayne Watkins and Magic Mark Kroll present The Magic of Reading at 6:30 p.m. July 18 at Mililani Library. Puppets, comedy, magic with a message and more are in store for children age 5 and older. Call 627-7470.

* RECYCLING DRIVE A community recycling drive runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Sunset Beach Elementary School. All kinds of discards - from appliances to tires to batteries and HI-5 containers - are welcome. For help with pick-up, call 306-1876.


* ART TOUR North Shore Artists Studio Tour - a team of six artists from Turtle Bay to Kaena Point - open their studios to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Tuesday. Call 637-8934 or log onto www.hawaiinorthshoreartists.com

* MOMS The Central Oahu Moms Club invites stay-at-home mothers and their children to join its activities. Call 218-8524.

* YOGA Jasmiine Yoga offers daily yoga classes for all ages at the Weinberg Community Center in Waialua. Call 561-9639.

* WAIMEA VALLEY The Waimea Valley Audubon Center offers afternoon guided walks on wildlife and plants each week. For details, call 638-9199.
