Below are some highlights of what’s happening in the Central Oahu community over the next few weeks.
* NEIGHBORS The Mililani Mauka-Launani Valley Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. April 15 in the Mililani Mauka Elementary School cafeteria; Wahiawa meets at 7 p.m. April 21 at Wahiawa District Park; North Shore meets at 7 p.m. April 22 at Alii Beach Park; and Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu meets at 7:30 p.m. April 23 in Mililani Rec Center III. * STORIES Auntie Brenda shares folktales from around the world at 10:30 a.m. April 16 at Wahiawa Library. Call 622-6345.
* PLANT CLASSES Wahiawa Botanical Garden offers tips on plant propagation and pruning at 9 a.m. April 18 (621-5463); ti leaf lei making at 1 p.m. April 22 ($10 fee) and head-lei making at 1 p.m. April 29 ($15 fee) (522-7064).
* WAHIAWA TOUR The Wahiawa Community and Business Association conducts a free bus tour of the town at 10 a.m. April 19, beginning and ending on Center Street. Reservations should be in to the WCBA by April 17. Call 621-6531.
* FOOD DRIVE Mililani Town Center hosts the area’s annual drive for Hawaii Foodbank from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 19, and it also plans a sidewalk sale April 18 to 20. Call 623-5233.
* BLOOD DRIVE The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts a donor drive from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 19 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.
* AYSO SIGNUPS Mililani AYSO registration for fall is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 19 at Mililani Waena Elementary School for all players born between Aug. 1, 1989 and July 31, 2004. * BOTANICAL ART Wahiawa Botanical Garden offers self-directed classes in botanical drawing and painting from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays through May 28. Call Brian Koren at 621-5463.
* LEI MAKING CLASSPupukea Beach Park offers an adult and teen lei making class at 6 p.m. April 24. Call 638-7213.
* SCHOOL FAIR Mililani Ike Elementary School has its Spring Fun Fair from 3 to 8 p.m. April 25 with game and food booths and a movie. Call 626-2980.
* EARTHWORM DAY Mylene’s Floral celebrates “Earthworms for Earth Day” from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 in the shop at 94-1181 Ka Uka Blvd. Information and demonstrations of the Can-O-Worm system, worm castings, vermi-cast tea and garden worms are planned. Mini-Bins with starter colonies also are available for $20. Call 382-0432.
* CRAFT FAIR The Bigger and Better May and Mother’s Day Craft & Gift Fair runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at Mililani Uka Elementary School. Call 499-5566.
* BIKE RACE The 25K Haleiwa Metric Century Ride begins at 7:30 a.m. April 27 at Kaiaka Beach Park, and also ends there by 2:30 p.m. There will be no lanes closures, but motorists should drive with caution. Call 735-5756.
* MDA CAMP Volunteers are needed to assist at the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual camp for children, set for June 6-13 at Camp Erdman. Call 593-4454.
* ESKRIMA Kali Eskrima conducts classes in the Filipino martial art of stick fighting from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays at Mililani Waena Elementary School. Monthly fee is $50. Call 398-0119.
* WAIPIO MARKET Kaiser Waipio Clinic hosts a “fresh day” market of healthy food and produce from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Wednesday at 94-1480 Moaniani St. Call 432-2270.
* MILILANI MARKET Mililani High School hosts a Farmers Market from 8 to 11 a.m. Sundays in the gym parking lot. Call 848-2074.
* MOMS The Central Oahu Moms Club invites stay-at-home mothers and their children to join its activities. Call 218-8524.
* YOGA Jasmiine Yoga offers daily yoga classes for all ages at the Weinberg Community Center in Waialua. Call 561-9639.
* TOASTMASTERS The Pineapple Toastmasters Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursday at Sgt. Yano Library on Schofield Barracks. All those interested in improving their public speaking are welcome to join. Call Don or Elaine at 622-0169.
