Below are some highlights of what’s happening in the Central Oahu community over the next few weeks.

* NEIGHBORS The Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. May 19 in the Halekoa building at Wahiawa District Park; Mililani Mauka-Launani Valley board meets at 7 p.m. May 20 in Mililani Mauka Elementary School cafeteria; North Shore meets at 7 p.m. May 27 at Alii Beach Park; and Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu meets at 7:30 p.m. May 28 in Mililani Rec Center III. * MEMORIAL DAY LEIS Waialua and Hauula district parks (9 a.m. to noon) and area fire stations accept donations of Memorial Day leis on May 23 for the Punchbowl ceremonies on May 26. Leis must be fresh, measure 20 to 24 inches, and be tied. Floral sprays also are welcome. Call 973-7264.

* LIBRARY CLOSURES Most public libraries are closed May 24-26 for the Memorial Day weekend.

* KICKBALL BENEFIT The Koolauloa Community Coed Kickball Classic May 24 and 25 at Hauula Community Park will benefit Tahlia Umiamaka, an infant with congenital heart defects. Team entry fee is $120. Call 781-6846.

* MAUI’S KITE Honolulu Theatre for Youth presents Maui’s Kite: Another Tale of Old Hawaii at 10:30 a.m. May 28 at Wahiawa Library (622-6345).

* PLANT ART Wahiawa Botanical Garden offers self-directed classes in botanical drawing and painting from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays through May 28. Call Brian Koren at 621-5463.

* BUSINESS HELP The U.S. Small Business Administration provides a business resource day for small-business owners from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 29 at the Mililani branch of American Savings Bank. Call 541-2990, ext. 211.

* CANCER RELAY The Central Oahu Relay for Life runs from 7 p.m. May 31 to 7 a.m. June 1 at Mililani High School. Call the cancer society at 486-8420.

* KOOLAU HIKE Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 9-mile advanced hike to the Koolau summit via Schofield at 8:30 a.m. June 1. Meet at Kemoo Farm. Go to http://www.htmclub.org

* MDA CAMP Volunteers are needed to assist at the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s camp for children June 6-13 at Camp Erdman. Call 593-4454.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 7 and 21 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.

* WAIPAHU OBON Mililani Hongwanji dancers help celebrate the obon season from 5 to 10 p.m. June 7 in a festival at Hawaii’s Plantation Village in Waipahu. Call 677-0110.

* WAIMEA GREETERS Waimea Valley seeks volunteer greeters to share the park’s history and lore one day a week for two-and-a-half hours. Call Kelly Perry at 638-7766, ext. 203.

* POLO SEASON Hawaii Polo Club has matches at 2 p.m. Sundays. Gates at Mokuleia polo field open at 11:30 a.m., and admission is $8. Cocktails and Manny’s Huli-Huli chicken are available. Call 637-8401.

* WAIPIO MARKET Kaiser Waipio Clinic hosts a “fresh day” market of healthy food and produce from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Wednesday at 94-1480 Moaniani St. Call 432-2270.

* MILILANI MARKET Mililani High School hosts a Farmers Market from 8 to 11 a.m. Sundays in the gym parking lot. Call 848-2074.
