Below are some highlights of what’s happening in the Central Oahu community over the next few weeks.
* BUGS AND MYSTERIESWahiawa Library presents Mystery Movie Night for teens at 6 p.m. June 10 and on each Tuesday in June and July, plus two Mad Science Bug Workshops for preschoolers at 10:30 and 11 a.m. June 18 as part of its Summer Reading Program. Call 622-6345.
* LIBRARY CLOSURES All public libraries are closed June 11 in observance of King Kamehameha Day.
* DADS’DAY PROMO Mililani Town Center celebrates fathers with games, drawings and craft-making from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m June 14. Call 625-5233.
* NEIGHBORS The Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. June 16 in the Halekoa building at Wahiawa District Park; the Mililani Mauka-Launani Valley board meets at 7 p.m. June 17 in the Mililani Mauka Elementary School cafeteria; North Shore meets at 7 p.m. June 24 at Alii Beach Park; and Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu meets at 7:30 p.m. June 25 in Mililani Rec Center III. * TERMITE TALK UH-Manoa termite expert Julian Yates conducts a workshop on termites at 6:30 p.m. June 17 at Mililani High School. Call 622-1634.
* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 21, 7 a.m. to noon July 4 and 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 5 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.
* CRUISE NIGHT Ohana Cruz Nights hosts a Cruise Night at 6 p.m. June 14 at Breakers in Haleiwa. Also planned, its sixth annual Start of Summer Auto Parts Swap Meet and Show n’ Shine from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 21 at Leeward Community College. Stall fee is $20, and $5 for each additional space. * WAHIAWA TOUR The WCBA sponsors a bus tour of Wahiawa at 10 a.m. June 21. Meet at Center Street for the 45-minute ride. For reservations, call 621-5109, ext. 226.
* CENTRAL HIKES The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads two 6-mile intermediate-level hikes this month: the first is into the Wahiawa Hills at 8 a.m. June 22 and the second is to Pupukea and Paumalu at 8 a.m. June 28. Go to http://www.htmclub.org.
* BON DANCE The Wahaiwa Hongwanji presents its annual bon dance celebration at 7:30 p.m. June 27-28 at the temple, 1067 California Ave. Call 622-4320.
* CLEAN PET TEETH Hawaii Fi-Do Service and Therapy Dogs conducts an anesthesia-free teeth cleaning for dogs and cats benefit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 28 at its training facility near the Pupukea Foodland. Fee is $100 per pet, and $25 is tax-deductible. Call 221-5698. (Bring pets in a crate or box.)
