Below are some highlights of what’s happening in the Central Oahu community over the next few weeks.

* NEIGHBORS The Wahiawa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. July 21 at Wahiawa District Park; the North Shore board meets at 7 p.m.July 22 at John Kalili Surf Center; the Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu board meets at 7:30 p.m. July 23 at Mililani Rec Center III. Call 768-3710.

* KOA RIDGE COMMENTS Public comments on the Koa Ridge draft environmental impact statement are due July 23. Call Orlando Davidson of the state Land Use Commission, 587-3822.

* CHANGING WAHIAWAWahiawa Community and Business Association sponsors a town meeting at 7 p.m. July 24 at Kaala Elementary School to discuss the future of Wahiawa and how to improve it through an official revitalization plan. Call Jack Kampfer at 621-5109, ext. 226.

* SOFTBALL The 46th annual Bobby Sox Softball All Star Tournament of Champions begins at 4 p.m. July 25 at Central Oahu Regional Park. Call 398-1359.

* PET BLESSING Christ Lutheran Church of Mililani has its 14th annual Pet Blessing Service at 9:30 a.m. July 27 at 95-1361 Meheula Parkway, with displays, booths,photos and pony rides from 8:45 to 9:25 a.m. Call 623-9229.

* POLO SEASON Hawaii Polo Club has matches at 2 p.m. every Sunday. Gates at Mokuleia polo field open at 11:30 a.m., and admission is $8 (or two-for-one for those with military ID). Cocktails and Manny’s Huli-Huli chicken are available on the grounds. Play for the Fred Dailey Cup is set for July 27 (with the Beach House band); Al Lopaka Day is Aug. 3 (with Sean Naauao & Friends). Call 637-8401.

* PRESCHOOL STORIESMililani Library has preschool storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, July 29-Sept. 2. Call 627-7470.

* MOVIE NIGHTS Wahiawa Library presents Mystery Movie Night for teens at 6 p.m. each Tuesday in July with refreshments provided while supplies last. Call 622-6345.

* COLLEGE REGISTRATIONThe deadline is Aug. 1 to apply for admission to UH-West Oahu for fall semester. Call 454-4837.

* WAHIAWA MUSIC Higher Ground Cafe offers music at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at 70 Kukui St. in Wahiawa. Gordon Freitas & Local Folk play July 25; Saloon Pilots & Patty Clayton play Aug. 1 ($5 cover). Every Thursday is Jazz Night with the Steve Lucas Band. Call 622-0000.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 2, 16 and 17 at Mililani Town Center. Call 845-9966.

* BON DANCES Bon dances start at 7:30 p.m. at Waialua Hongwanji on Aug. 2 (625-0925) and at Mililani Hongwanji Aug. 15-16 (625-0925).

* HELEMANO OPEN HOUSE Helemano Plantation conducts an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 and 9 to showcase Camp Pineapple 808 and the Elder Day Care/Wellness Center. Call 622-3929.

* STATE ID CARDS State officials process state ID cards for residents from 8:30 a.m.to 2 p.m.Aug. 9 in the Mililani High School cafeteria. Call 587-3111.

* MAORI CULTURE Polynesian Cultural Center hosts the ninth annual Te Manahua Maori Cultural Competition at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 in Laie. Admission is $8 and $6. Call 293-3333.

* WAIMEA GREETERS Waimea Valley seeks volunteer greeters to share the park’s history and lore one day a week for two-and-a-half hours. Call 638-7766, ext. 203.

* FAMILY WORSHIP Pacific Islands Bible Church now offers a second service at 8:15 a.m. Sundays for families to worship together in the sanctuary. Tables are arranged for quiet keiki activities, for example, and the nursery door remains open so that prayer, fellowship, worship and learning can occur for everyone at once. * LA LECHE La Leche League of Central Oahu meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the large meeting room at Schofield Barracks. All breast-feeding and expectant mothers are welcome. Call 772-0438.

* GARDEN ADVISERS Kokua Hawaii Foundation seeks volunteers to work as nutrition docents, garden assistants and more for its ‘Aina in the Schools program. Call Kelly at 638-5145.

* TOASTMASTERS The Pineapple Toastmasters Club meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursday at Wahiawa District Park. Those interested in improving their public speaking are welcome to join. Call 622-0169.
